Cilissa -- Poem
Where comes this feeling sudden, unexpected,
tragic in its simplicity and yet exquisite
My mind toils, twisting, maddening,
Convincing in its logistics
       there is NO SUCH THING
it screams...my heart refuses to listen
and thus
the battle rages
The wall is shaken
       foundations crumbling to dust
mental bands of iron will
               hold fast and yet....
The words insinuate themselves,
       creeping like a forgotten mist
further undermining the carefully
               constructed wall of dreams
....lost to reality
Whispered words, dreamlike in their intensity
fall on a heart long denied yet
       never knowing it's deprivation.
Please, do not wake me
       from this ecstatic dreaming
speaking eloquent poetry of fire,
a pillar of light in a
darkened heart which knows not
       its darkness
Can there be any further happiness?
       the minutes without contact
stretching endlessly onward
               as a gossamer web drifting
       on ever swifter currents
The spirit, the soul, blending
       merging, touching as one
Testing the will, the steely bands
               straining to retain distance,
       a wall of force
a sinister message sifting through sands of happiness
To once again attempt their betrayal
of the hearts desire
May I never truly waken from this,
the dream of a lifetime; the fleeting
               wisp of true happiness
               forever quested....
                       never gained@
