Zen is a mental state which all psionists endeavor to obtain throughout their lives. The spell 'zen' is actually a higher state of meditation,the way in which psionists concetrate on zen, although not obtaining it (existing in the full state of zen would be complete discorporation from the material body, or immortalhood).  After meditating for long periods of time, somehigher level psionists can earn the power to cast 'zen' and can experience a temporary andincomplete discorporation of mind and body. The state of zen frees the body from injuries (not completely, since complete discorporation is not obtained) and allows faster bodily regeneration.

As the psionist comes closer to zen, more and more of the caster's powers become obvious. Other psionist spells that involve discorporation are known as zen types.
