Backstab is the most ancient thief skill in the Realms, allowing the thief to come up from behind the target and stabbing his weapon into the vunerable back of the unsupecting victim. Backstab cannot be used with piercing weapons, such as swords or maces (a dagger is preferable). This skill will increase the amount of damage a thief may do considerably, multiplying the damage he may do (shown in chart above).
